SWO5 – What’s Being Built this Weekend?

Opening night at the 5th edition of Startup Weekend Ottawa saw 22 pitches from a packed room of eager participants, mentors and sponsors including many alumni from previous SWO events. Two teams even merged together before final voting had taken place. When the dust settled, 10 solid project teams emerged ready to get started validating and building. The following is the list of projects being worked on:

Rideshare

Sharing rides from city-to-city. Rideshare is a web-based platform that connects drivers and passengers.

Wait Room App

Why wait in the “waiting room” when you can wait in the comfort of your own home. Wait Room App provides realtime notification for the wait times at your local drop-in health clinic and hospital emergency room.

Cooks Near Me

Cooks near me is a platform to connect people with cooks in their neighbourhood.

Cotransfer

Cotransfer allows you to easily swap or transfer your phone contract with someone else.

Out We Go

Take the pain out of making plans for yourself or with friends with Out We Go, the recommendation platform that let’s you control and filter the results.

My Jam

Collaborate with friends to create incredible playlists at your next house party or event. The My Jam app let’s everyone at the party play DJ.

Politrack 

Politrack creates transparency through aggregating news and data around politicians and engages citizens to show their support by up-or-down voting on bills and the actions of their politicians.

Opt In 

Through reapplying machine learning and face-recognition technology, Opt In is helping families recover missing loved ones.
